Double definition clues
The clue is just two definitions side by side, and both point to the same word. There is no wordplay; the trick is that the word has two quite different meanings.
How to spot one
- The clue is short, often only two or three words.
- No word looks like an indicator.
- Split the clue in two and ask: what word could mean both halves?
- A small link like 'for' or 'in' may sit between the two definitions.
